Executive Director of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) Nevine Gamea emphasized that UNDP is a main partner to MSMEDA in strengthening MSE sector. She added that there is a continued and prolonged UNDP-MSMEDA cooperation on providing integrated packages of technical assistance for owners of MSEs together with upgraded services matching with the rapid changes markets currently witness, particularly, in terms of e-marketing in order to expand in supporting innovative enterprises.
These statements were made in the meeting Ms. Gamea held with the UNDP delegation headed by UNDP Assistant Representative Dr. Abeer Shakweer during her visit to the 4th Round of the Egyptian Handicrafts Exhibition “Turathna 2022” MSMEDA organized under the auspices of His Excellency President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El Sisi from 9th-15th October at Egypt International Exhibition Center. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated Turathna Exhibition 2022 in the presence of a constellation of Ministers.
Dr. Shakweer stressed MSMEDA role in the provision of the different financial and non- financial services for start-up and existing entrepreneurs and MSMEDA keenness on the continuous improvement of its services to cope with digitalization in order to speed up the growth pace of MSE sector in general.
UNDP Assistant Resident Representative added that UNDP cooperates with MSMEDA since its inception due to its leading role in developing and encouraging entrepreneurship. Major axes of UNDP-MSMEDA cooperation focus on digital transformation, improvement of the quality of services granted to clients and beneficiaries and enhancement of strategic innovation inside MSMEDA, Dr. Shakweer said.
Dr. Shakweer also commended on MSMEDA interest in developing the Egyptian Handicrafts and organizing Turathna Exhibition for the 4th year in a row as it represents a promising opportunity to exhibitors and participants to market their products and meet the needs of clients.
In addition, Dr. Shakweer admired the MEMDA booth exhibiting the technical services of MSMEDA to improve the quality of products, establishing trade marks for enterprises, providing business development services, developing e-marketing skills through social media platforms.
The UNDP Resident Representative expressed appreciation for the role MSMEDA’s Business Development Unit plays in assisting clients to develop their enterprises as it saves time, cost and effort and enables enterprises to benefit, in no time, from the MSMEDA diversified services.
